Heidi Gorringe-Hodder

Heidi is a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist (SLT) registered with the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists and governed by the Health Care Professional Council (HCPC). Heidi has worked within the NHS for over five years providing assessment and intervention for children with a range of speech, language, and communication needs.

Why I chose Speech and Language Therapy as a career?

Heidi has always wanted to help others and make a positive difference. Her career began when working for charities that support families and their children, working within education settings and completing an early childhood studies undergraduate degree. These experiences underpinned Heidi’s ability to use a holistic approach when supporting children and their families. During this time Heidi’s nephew was presenting with a speech and language disorder which guided her to explore speech and language therapy strategies to support his communication development. Heidi then knew she had found her passion and purpose, confirming that she wanted to pursue a career as a Speech and Language Therapist.

There is no doubt that Heidi is extremely passionate and enthusiastic about her career as an SLT. Heidi feels very lucky that she can help others and be part of their journey to develop confidence and help them find their voice. Heidi also recognises the integral role of families and supports their understanding and confidence in using a range of speech and language techniques and strategies to be able to support their child on a day-to-day basis.
